Jon Chitty
Air Commodore Jon Chitty, OBE RAF, was Commandant of the Air Training Corps (ATC) from 3 May 2002 until July 2005. Biography Air Commodore Jon Chitty was brought up and educated in Sheffield. He attended King Edward VII Schoolphoto and left with an RAF Scholarship to undertake an Aeronautical Engineering degree at Imperial College London from 1971 to 1974. He then undertook officer and specialist training at RAF College Cranwell during the following year. His first posting was to RAF Kinloss as Officer Commanding Armament Servicing Flight supporting the 3 Nimrod Squadrons. Postings to RAF Gutersloh and RAF Wattisham followed before he was posted to DSGT at Cranwell as an instructor. He left on promotion a year later to command the Armament Engineering Squadron at RAF Coningsby and was the project officer for the introduction to service of the Tornado F2. RAF Wyton
Royal Air Force Wyton or more simply RAF Wyton is a Royal Air Force station near St Ives, Cambridgeshire, England. The airfield is decommissioned and is now home to the Joint Forces Intelligence Group. History Flying station Wyton has been a military airfield since 1916, when it was used for training by the Royal Flying Corps and then its successor the Royal Air Force (RAF). During the Second World War it was used primarily as a bomber base, flying Bristol Blenheim, de Havilland Mosquito and Avro Lancaster aircraft. In 1942 it became the home of the Pathfinder Force under the command of Group Captain Don Bennett. After the war Wyton became home to the English Electric Canberras of the Strategic Reconnaissance Force. The Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) is a volunteer-military youth organisation sponsored by the Royal Air Force that manages both the Air Training Corps and RAF Sections of the Combined Cadet Force. The organisation is headed by a former serving RAF officer, Commandant Air Cadets. The current commandant is Air Commodore Tony Keeling. Prior to 1 October 2017, the RAFAC was called the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO). David Harrison (RAF Officer)
Air Commodore David Harrison, BSc RAF, is a retired RAF Officer and former Commandant of the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO). Early life Air Cdre Harrison was educated at John Port School just outside Derby and went on to complete a BSc (Hons) degree in geography at Liverpool University. Military career He joined the RAF in 1977 having completed 3 years as a VR member of Liverpool University Air Squadron. Following flying training, he was posted to fly the Phantom FGR2, became a Qualified Weapons Instructor and flew over 2,000 hours on the aircraft. On promotion to squadron leader, he was a Flight Commander on 19 (F) Sqn in Germany before serving in the Falkland Islands as Commanding Officer of No. 1435 Flight. Air Marshal Sir David Allan Walker, (born 14 July 1956) is a Director at Alexander Mann Solutions, and a member of the Advisory Board of Auticon. He is a retired senior Royal Air Force officer and Master of the Household to the Sovereign. RAF career Walker was commissioned in the Administrative Branch of the Royal Air Force (RAF) on 1 September 1974. He was regraded to pilot officer on 15 July 1977 (seniority 15 October 1975), promoted to flying officer on 15 January 1978 (seniority 15 April 1976), and promoted to flight lieutenant on 15 October 1980. Walker was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in 1992, and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1995. RAF College Cranwell
The Royal Air Force College (RAFC) is the Royal Air Force military academy which provides initial training to all RAF personnel who are preparing to become commissioned officers. The College also provides initial training to aircrew cadets and is responsible for all RAF recruiting along with officer and aircrew selection. Originally established as a naval aviation training centre during World War I, the College was established as the world's first air academy in 1919. Commandant Air Cadets is the title given to the Royal Air Force officer who is responsible for running the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, embracing the Air Training Corps (ATC) and the RAF Sections of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF RAF). The current Commandant Air Cadets is Air Commodore Tony Keeling, who assumed the post in September 2020. Previously known as Commandant ATC, the appointment is now held by an RAF Air Commodore and is based at Headquarters Air Cadets (HQAC) at RAF Cranwell.
