Jolly LLB
''Jolly LLB'' is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language dark comedy courtroom drama film written and directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Fox Star Studios. Released on 15 March 2013, the film stars Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao and Saurabh Shukla and revolves around the early life of Advocate Jagdish Tyagi, also known as Jolly, and focuses on his attempt to earn six innocent labourers their justice and his journey against the monopolistic behavior of the rich and judicial corruption. The storyline is inspired by the 1999 hit-and-run case of Sanjeev Nanda and a minor reference to Priyadarshini Mattoo case. Subhash Kapoor
Subhash Kapoor is an Indian film director, and screenwriter. He was a political journalist, and later became known for directing satirical comical dramas like '' Phas Gaye Re Obama'' (2010), '' Jolly LLB'' (2013) and '' Jolly LLB 2'' (2017). Career After completing his MA degree in Hindi literature, Kapoor started his career as a political journalist in Delhi in the 1990s covering North India; thereafter, when his short film got him acclaim in 2001, he started making commercial short films, documentaries and ad films, eventually shifting base to Mumbai in 2006. Sanjeev Nanda
Six persons, including three police officers were killed by a speeding BMW E38 in the Lodhi Colony area of Delhi, India, on 10 January 1999. After following trails of the engine oil, police found the BMW at 50 Golf Links, the residence of Rajeev Gupta. It was then revealed that Sanjeev Nanda, grandson of Indian Navy Chief and son of Indian arms dealer Suresh Nanda was driving the car after returning from a party with Siddhartha Gupta (son of Rajeev Gupta), and Manik Kapoor. While Nanda and several related parties were initially acquitted and released in a trial in 1999, he was later found guilty in 2008 and sentenced to two years in prison, which was reduced to time served, a large fine, and two years of community service by the Indian Supreme Court in 2012.
