Jolanta Żyndul
Jolanta Maria Żyndul (born 1964) is a Polish historian, a specialist on modern Jewish history and Polish-Jewish relations in 19th and 20th century. Life She joined the historical faculty of the John Paul II University of Lublin, but later moved to Warsaw, where she graduated in 1990 from the Faculty of History of University of Warsaw. Since 1991 she works for the university's Mordechaj Anielewicz Centre for the Study and Teaching of the History and Culture of Jews in Poland, initially as a technical assistant, then assistant professor (1992–1999) and since 1999 as an ''adjunkt''. When Jerzy Tomaszewski retired in 2001, she replaced him as director of that institution. In 1999 she received a doctoral degree (under tutelage of prof. Marcin Kula), and in January 2013 she received habilitation. The history of the Jews in Poland dates back at least 1,000 years. For centuries, Poland was home to the largest and most significant Jews, Jewish community in the world. Poland was a principal center of Jewish culture, because of the long period of statutory toleration, religious tolerance and Qahal, social autonomy which ended after the Partitions of Poland in the 18th century. John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (, , abbreviation KUL) is a university established in 1918. History :pl:Idzi Radziszewski, Father Idzi Benedykt Radziszewski founded the university in 1918. Vladimir Lenin, Lenin allowed the priest to take the library and equipment of the Saint Petersburg Roman Catholic Theological Academy to Poland to launch the university just as Poland regained its independence. Jerzy Tomaszewski (historian)
Jerzy Tomaszewski (October 8, 1930 – November 3, 2014) was a Polish political scientist and historian, born in Radomsko. He graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics and worked there, later moving on to the Warsaw University of Life Science, and finally to Warsaw University. He specialized in the economic history of Poland and the Polish-Jewish history and relations. He authored many books together with his colleague from the Warsaw School of Economics, Zbigniew Landau.
