Joint Overhead Persistent Infrared Center
The Joint Overhead Persistent Infrared Center (JOPC) is a subordinate center of United States Space Command's Combined Force Space Component Command. It is responsible for planning and coordinating overhead persistent infra-red operations. The JOPC is located at Buckley Space Force Base. Mission The Joint Overhead Persistent Infrared Center is a joint endeavor between United States Space Command and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. The JOPC develops integrated OPIR collection and exploitation strategies and plans for OPIR sensors (both Intelligence Community, inc. Combined Force Space Component Command
The Combined Force Space Component Command (CFSCC) is a U.S.-led multinational subordinate command of United States Space Command. It is responsible for tactical control of American and multinational space forces. The CFSCC's mission is to "plan, integrate, conduct, and assess global space operations in order to deliver combat relevant space capabilities to Combatant Commanders, Coalition partners, the Joint Force, and the Nation." Buckley Space Force Base is a United States Space Force base in Aurora, Colorado named after United States Army Air Service First Lieutenant John Harold Buckley. The base is run by Space Base Delta 2, with major units including the U.S. Space Force's Space Delta 4 (flies the Defense Support Program and Space-Based Infrared System constellations from Buckley SFB and commands the Space Force's missile warning forces), the Colorado Air National Guard's 140th Wing (flies the F-16C Fighting Falcon), the Denver Naval Operations Support Center, and the National Reconnaissance Office's Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado. The Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) is a United States Space Force system intended to meet the United States' Department of Defense infrared space surveillance needs through the first two to three decades of the 21st century.
