Adrian Johns
Vice Admiral Sir Adrian James Johns, (born 1 September 1951) is a former senior officer in the Royal Navy, serving as Second Sea Lord between 2005 and 2008. He was the Governor of Gibraltar between 2009 and 2013. Early life and education Johns was born on 1 September 1951. He was educated at Newquay Grammar School in Cornwall and then Imperial College London, where he studied physics. Naval career Johns joined the Royal Navy in 1973. On 1 September 1975, he was promoted to lieutenant, with seniority from 1 January 1975. After his initial postings, Johns trained as a helicopter pilot and then served as a Westland Sea King pilot with 824 Naval Air Squadron aboard HMS ''Ark Royal''. Glynis Margaret Payne Johns (5 October 1923 – 4 January 2024) was a British actress. In a career exceeding seven decades on stage and screen, Johns appeared in more than 60 films and 30 plays. Glyn Thomas Johns (born 15 February 1942) is an English recording engineer and record producer. He has worked with many of the most famous rock recording acts from both the UK and abroad, such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Who, Led Zeppelin, the Kinks, Eagles, Bob Dylan, the Band, Eric Clapton, the Clash, Steve Miller Band, Small Faces, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Joan Armatrading. Throughout his career, he has generally preferred a live, natural approach to recording in the studio, and developed a method of recording drums sometimes referred to as the " Glyn Johns method". George Sibley Johns (1857–1941) was an American journalist, most notable as editor of the ''St. Louis Post-Dispatch''. Biography Johns was born in St. Charles, Missouri, to John Jay Johns and Jane Amanda Durfee. He was named after George Champlin Sibley, founder of Lindenwood College. Harold Gene Johns (October 6, 1927 – August 11, 1984) was an American politician and Democratic member of the Illinois Senate. Early life and career Johns was born in Carrier Mills, Illinois October 6, 1927 to Columbus Johns, an employee of the Sahara Coal Company, and Mabel Johns, a homemaker. He was raised in and attended public schools in Harrisburg, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale majoring in Government. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps and as an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. Emmett Mathias Joseph Johns (April 3, 1928 – January 13, 2018), was a Canadian priest and humanitarian. He was the founder of Dans la Rue (originally known as ''Le Bon Dieu Dans La Rue''), a homeless shelter and support group for street youth in Montreal, Quebec. Life and career Emmett Johns, who was of Irish descent, was born on April 3, 1928 in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood of Montreal. He graduated with a BA from Loyola College in 1974.
