John Baptist Wu
John Baptist Wu Cheng-chung ( zh, t=胡振中, cy=Wu Cheng-chung; 26 March 1925 – 23 September 2002) was the fifth Roman Catholic bishop of Hong Kong and the first cardinal from that diocese. He was a member of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Biography A Hakka, Wu was born in the village of Ho Hau, Wu-hua (Province of Guangdong, Diocese of Kai-ying). Baptized in the village's parish church, he received his primary education there. He joined the diocesan minor seminary of Ka-ying for his secondary education in 1940 and was ordained in 1952. He was appointed the fifth Bishop of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese by Pope Paul VI as successor to Bishop Peter Lei Wang-kei who had died on 23 July 1974. John Ching Hsiung Wu
John Ching Hsiung Wu (also John C.H. Wu; Traditional Chinese: 吳經熊; pinyin: ''Wu Jingxiong'') (born 28 March 1899, Ningbo – 6 February 1986) was a Chinese jurist and author. He wrote works in Chinese, English, French, and German on Christian spirituality, Chinese literature (including a translation of the ''Tao Te Ching'') and on legal topics. On his ''Tao Te Ching'' translation, Thomas Merton said Wu's work was "absolutely necessary for us not only to progress but even to survive." Biography A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, he was the principal author of the constitution of the Republic of China. He maintained a correspondence with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. and later produced scholarly work examining Holmes' legal thought. John Wu or Wu Chih-yang (; born 8 February 1969) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Magistrate of Taoyuan County from 2009 to 2014. Wu was the former Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) commissioner. Early life Wu obtained his bachelor's and master's degree in law from National Taiwan University. He then obtained another law degree from Harvard University in the United States.
