John Wright (architect)
Wright & Sanders was an American architectural firm. It was established in 1858 in Victoria, British Columbia, by John Wright, the first professional architect to practice in the province. In 1861 Wright formed the partnership of Wright & Sanders with George H. Sanders; they moved to San Francisco in 1867. Wright retired from practice in 1895, followed by Sanders , about the time the firm's office, and much of its built work, was destroyed by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The firm was responsible for major projects in both British Columbia and California. History John Wright, a native of Scotland, immigrated to Canada in 1845 and settled in Victoria in 1858. Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) is a postnominal title or membership, designating an individual who has been named a fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Fellowship is bestowed by the institute on AIA-member architects who have made outstanding contributions to the profession through design excellence, contributions in the field of architectural education, or to the advancement of the profession.
