John Whitmore (architect)
John T. Whitmore (November 16, 1893 – December 14, 1943) was an American architect. As founding president of the Massachusetts State Association of Architects, Whitmore facilitated the passage of an architects' registration law for Massachusetts in 1941 and was inaugural chairman of the state registration board. Life and career John Thoreau Whitmore was born November 16, 1893, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to William R. Whitmore, an artist, and Mabel Whitmore, née Turner. He was educated at Williams College and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked for Stone & Webster before joining the firm of Andrews, Rantoul & Jones in 1920. In 1924 he became a partner in the reorganized Andrews, Jones, Biscoe & Whitmore; his partners were Robert Day Andrews, Howland Jones and Maurice B. Biscoe. John Whitmore (banker)
John Whitmore (15 October 1750 – 9 October 1826) was an English merchant, banker and politician, Member of Parliament for Bridgnorth from 1795 to 1806. Whitmore was Governor of the Bank of England from 1808 to 1810. He had been Deputy Governor from 1807 to 1808. He replaced Beeston Long as Governor and was succeeded by John Pearse. John Whitmore (racing Driver)
Sir John Henry Douglas Whitmore, 2nd Baronet (16 October 1937 – 28 April 2017) was a pioneer of the executive coaching industry, an author and British racing driver. Family life and background John Whitmore was born on 16 October 1937, the son of Sir Francis Whitmore and Ellis Johnsen. He was educated at Eton College, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester Agricultural College. He inherited The Orsett Estate Company at Orsett, Essex, in 1962, on the death of his father. The inheritance included the family seat of Orsett Hall, from the grounds of which he used to take off and land his plane. In 1968, he sold the house to his friends, Tony and Val Morgan. He married twice, first to Ella Gunilla Hansson, from whom he was divorced in 1969, and later to Diana Becchetti. He had a child from each marriage. He died on 28 April 2017.
