John West III
John West III (1666–1734) inherited West Point plantation from his father, and served in the House of Burgesses, representing the newly created King William County, Virginia, King William County 1702-1706. He was the eldest son of Colonel John West, and grandson of John West (governor). Early life The first born son of Unity Croshaw, the daughter of Major Joseph Croshaw, who represented York County, Virginia, York County in the House of Burgesses and her husband John West (colonel), Col. John West was born between 1665 and 1669. The House of Burgesses () was the lower house of the Virginia General Assembly from 1619 to 1776. Captain Anthony Armistead
Captain Anthony Armistead (ca. 1645–before 1705) was a planter, militia officer, politician and Justice of the Peace in the Colony and Dominion of Virginia in the British Empire. He may be best known for participating in the courts-martial after Bacon's Rebellion in 1676, for his own multiple terms in the House of Burgesses representing Elizabeth City County, Virginia, or for increasing the wealth and political prominence of his Tidewater Virginia family. Early and family life The youngest of three sons of William Armistead and his wife Anne, who had emigrated from Yorkshire, England to Elizabeth City County, Virginia in the 1730s. Catherine Carey
Catherine Carey, after her marriage Catherine Knollys and later known as both Lady Knollys and Dame Catherine Knollys, ( – 15 January 1569), was chief Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Elizabeth I, who was her first cousin. Biography Catherine Carey was born in 1524, the daughter of William Carey of Aldenham in Hertfordshire, Gentleman of the Privy Chamber and Esquire of the Body to Henry VIII, and his wife Mary Boleyn, who had once been a mistress of the king. Catherine was thus Elizabeth I's maternal first cousin. Some historians believe that Catherine was an illegitimate child of Henry VIII, which would make her also Elizabeth I's paternal half-sister through their shared father, Henry VIII. Francis Knollys (the Elder)
Sir Francis Knollys, KG of Rotherfield Greys, Oxfordshire (c. 1511/c. 1514 – 19 July 1596) was an English courtier in the service of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Elizabeth I, and was a Member of Parliament for a number of constituencies. Early appointments Francis Knollys was born 1511, the elder son of Sir Robert Knollys (d. 1520/1521) and Lettice Peniston (d. 1557/1558), daughter of Sir Thomas Peniston of Hawridge, Buckinghamshire, henchman to Henry VIII. He appears to have received some education at Oxford. He married Catherine Carey, first cousin (as well as possible half-sister) of Queen Elizabeth I. William West, 1st Baron De La Warr ( ) of the second creation ( – 30 December 1595) was the elder son of Sir George West (d.1538), second son of Thomas West, 8th Baron De La Warr, by his third wife, Eleanor Copley, and Elizabeth Morton, widow of Robert Walden, and daughter of Sir Robert Morton of Lechlade, Gloucestershire. Captain Raleigh Croshaw or Rawley Crashaw ( – ) was an English merchant and early immigrant to the Colony and Dominion of Virginia who represented Elizabeth City County in the House of Burgesses in 1624. George Percy (governor)
The Honourable George Percy ( – ) was an English people, English explorer, writer, and early Colonial Governor of Virginia. Early life Master George Percy (sometimes written as "Percie" or "Percye") was born in England, the youngest son of Henry Percy, 8th Earl of Northumberland and Lady Catherine Neville. He was sickly for much of his life, possibly suffering from epilepsy or severe asthma. He graduated from University of Oxford, Oxford University in 1597. While at university, he gained admission to Gloucester College, Oxford, Gloucester Hall and the Middle Temple. Percy's vocation was the military. His first service came in the Eighty Years' War, Dutch struggle for independence from Spain in the early 1600s. He also served in Ireland.
