John Vic De Guzman
John Vic Ortiz De Guzman (born September 23, 1993) is a Filipino volleyball player, actor, and singer. Early life and education De Guzman lived in East Laguna in his early years and became involved in various extracurricular activities. In his first year of high school, he was part of a band. In the next year, he became a dancer and, in his third year of high school studies, he started to play badminton. He attended the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde under a scholarship program. He graduated with a degree in Human Resource Management. Volleyball career De Guzman only took up volleyball at age 18 after his high school studies. His involvement with the sport enabled him to study at no cost at the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (CSB) as an athletic scholar. 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival
The 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the 42nd edition of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival held in Metro Manila and throughout the Philippines. It is organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). This is the first time that the festival committee required producers to submit either picture lock versions or finished films, instead of screenplays in previous editions. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters (except IMAX, 4D, and large format 3D theaters), however there are some non-MMFF entries like ''The Super Parental Guardians'', and '' Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers'' shown on SM Cinema branches. In Philippine mythology, the kapre is a creature that may be described as a tree giant or ape like, being a tall (), dark-coloured, hairy, and muscular creature. Kapres are also said to have a very strong body odour and to sit in tree branches to smoke. Origins The term ''kapre'' comes from the Arabic ''kafir'' (Spanish ''cafre''), meaning a non-believer in Arabic (usually referring to atheists/idolists). The term was later brought to the Philippines by the Spanish who had previous contact with the Moors, they used it to describe the indigenous Negrito ethnic groups with dark skin and features similar to Black Africans.
