John Teehan
John Teehan (born 1939) is an Irish former hurler. A player in both the midfield and centre-forward positions, he was a member of the Kilkenny team that won the 1967 All-Ireland Championship. Born in the parish of Graigue-Ballycallan, Teehan first played hurling at juvenile level with Freshford. After a brief spell playing junior hurling with Threecastles, he later joined the amalgamated St Lachtain's senior team with whom he won county championship medals in 1961 and 1963. Teehan was selected on the Kilkenny junior team in 1960. After a series of successful trials he was added to the Kilkenny senior panel for the 1962 championship before being dropped for the Leinster final. Teehan was again a panellist for the 1963 championship, winning a Leinster medal on the bench before being dropped for the All-Ireland final. The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Presently, Ulster hold the record for the most football Railway Cup wins with 30, while Munster has won the most hurling titles with 43. The 1966 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 80th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The championship ran from 15 May 1966 to 4 September 1966. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Limerick in the Munster quarter-finals. The All-Ireland final was played on 4 September 1996 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Cork and Kilkenny, in what was their 14th meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in the final in 19 years. Cork won the match by 3–09 to 1–10 to claim their 20th All-Ireland title overall and a first title in 12 years. Cork's Seánie Barry was the championship's top scorer with 3-23.
