John Stratton (actor)
John Wilson Stratton (7 November 1925 – 25 October 1991) was a British actor, born in Clitheroe, Lancashire, where he kept his permanent home. He is perhaps best known for his early film roles during the fifties, where he played the young apprentice parts of Ferraby and Ward opposite Jack Hawkins in both '' The Cruel Sea'' (1953) and '' The Long Arm'' (1956) respectively. He played a similar role on television in the third Quatermass serial ''Quatermass and the Pit'', essaying the role of Captain Potter opposite André Morell's Professor Bernard Quatermass. Older and less boyish by the sixties, he emerged as character actor of some range, playing numerous roles in many television programmes of the decade including the part of alcoholic journalist Fred Blane in '' It's Dark Outside''. John Stratton (Virginia Politician)
John Stratton (August 19, 1769 – May 10, 1804) was an eighteenth and nineteenth century congressman and lawyer from Virginia, USA. Born at "Old Castle" near Eastville, Virginia, Stratton attended the common schools as a child. He studied law and was admitted to the bar. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1789 to 1792 and was later elected as a Federalist to the United States House of Representatives in 1800, serving from 1801 to 1803. "John L" is a song by English rock band Black Midi, released in 2021 as the lead single from their second studio album, ''Cavalcade (Black Midi album), Cavalcade''. John Stratton (Air Force)
John C. Stratton is a former American soccer defender and retired U.S. Air Force officer and fighter pilot. He played one season of A-League soccer. Stratton also starred in the IMAX film '' Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag''. Early life Stratton was born in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Horizon High School in Thornton, Colorado. He then attended the United States Air Force Academy, where he played on the men's soccer team from 1993 to 1996. He was a First Team All American his senior season. Stratton graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in political science. He spent the 1997 season with the Colorado Foxes, an A-League soccer team before attending Air Force flight training. Following his graduation from Air Force flight training in 1999, he embarked on a career as an F-15 pilot. John William Stratton (31 August 1875 – 29 October 1919) was an English cricketer. Stratton was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast. He was born in Turweston, Buckinghamshire and educated at Cheltenham College, where he represented the college cricket team, and Keble College, Oxford. Stratton made his debut for Buckinghamshire in the 1895 Minor Counties Championship against Oxfordshire. He played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire from 1895 to 1901, making 27 appearances. He made his only first-class appearance in 1896 for Oxford University against the Marylebone Cricket Club. He took 3 wickets in the MCC first-innings for the cost of 93 runs. His wickets were those of: Frank Phillips, Billy Murdoch and George Brann. With the bat he scored a single run in the university's first-innings, before being dismissed by Albert Trott. John Young Stratton
John Young Stratton (1829/30 – 30 March 1905) was an author, essayist, social reformer, campaigner against rural poverty, and Rector of Ditton, Kent for 48 years. He is remembered mainly for his tireless campaigning to improve the lives of farm labourers and hop-pickers. Early life, education and family John Stratton was born in Boughton, Norfolk in late 1829 or very early in 1830. His father, William, was the parish curate and the family remained in Boughton until 1838 when William was appointed Vicar of Gressingham in Lancashire. Educated at Heversham Grammar School in Westmorland (now Cumbria) and Magdalene College, Cambridge, he graduated in 1853 and was ordained deacon the same year. Ordained priest in 1855, he was appointed Rector of Ditton in 1856. In 1870, Stratton married Anne Louisa Taylor of Boughton Monchelsea Place. Their marriage produced six children.
