John Spens
John Alexander Spens (7 June 1933 – 14 January 2021) was a Scottish lawyer and officer of arms. Spens was the son of Thomas Patrick Spens and Nancy Farie Anderson. He was educated at Rugby School, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and the University of Glasgow. He was a partner of the legal firm Maclay, Murray and Spens, and a director of Scottish Amicable Life Assurance Society and Standard Property Investment Ltd. He was a commissioned officer in the Royal Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander and being awarded the Decoration for Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve in 1970. In 1965 he was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers. From 1977 he was a member of the Society of Writers to Her Majesty's Signet. Spens was Carrick Pursuivant of the Court of the Lord Lyon from 1974 to 1985, and Albany Herald from 1985 to 2011. Crispin Agnew
Sir Crispin Hamlyn Agnew of Lochnaw, 11th Baronet, (born 13 May 1944) is a Scottish advocate, herald and former explorer. He is the chief of the ancient Agnew family, and the eleventh holder of the Agnew baronetcy, created in 1629. Agnew is the only son of Sir Fulque Agnew and his wife Swanzie Erskine, latterly Professor of Geography at the University of Malawi. He succeeded his father in 1975. He was educated at Uppingham School and RMA Sandhurst, before being commissioned into the Royal Highland Fusiliers in 1964. He served in Germany, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and the UK. As an active climber and mountaineer and member of the Alpine Club (UK) he was involved with the army's policy of developing adventurous training for soldiers of all ranks. Elizabeth Ann Roads, (née Bruce; born 1951) is a former Scottish herald, an office from which she retired in 2021; in July 2018 she retired as Lyon Clerk at the Court of the Lord Lyon Personal life and education Elizabeth Roads is the daughter of Lt Col. James Bruce MC and his wife Mary Hope Sinclair.
