John Sherrit (musician)
John "Yak" Sherrit (born 1962) is an Australian drummer best known for his drumming on several studio albums of Johnny Diesel and the Injectors, and touring with Diesel, Jimmy Barnes, and Richard Clapton. Biography Sherrit first performed with Mark Lizotte in The Kind and Close Action. The Kind comprised Lizotte, Sherrit, Denise DeMarchi, Suze DeMarchi, Dean Denton, Gary Dunn and Boyd Wilson. ''The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' or ''Rock and Pop'' by Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane is a guide to Australian popular music from the 1950s to the late 1990s. The book has a similar title to the 1978 work by Noel McGrath, '' Australian Encyclopaedia of Rock and Pop'', but is not otherwise related. Publishers, Allen & Unwin described McFarlane's encyclopedia as containing over 870 entries and an "essential reference to the bands and artists who molded the shape of Australian popular music ..in an A-to-Z encyclopedia format complete with biographical and historical details. Each entry also includes listings of original band lineups and subsequent changes, record releases, career highlights, and cross-references with related bands and artists." The Angels are an Australian rock band that formed in 1974 in Adelaide as the Keystone Angels with Bernard "Doc" Neeson on lead vocals and bass guitar, John Brewster on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, his brother Rick Brewster on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Peter "Charlie" King on drums. In 1976, King was replaced by Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup on drums, Chris Bailey took over bass duties so Neeson could focus solely on vocals, and they changed their name to just 'the Angels'. Hard rock or heavy rock is a heavier subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and Distortion (music), distorted electric guitars. The Australian Rock Database was a website with a searchable online database that listed details of Australian rock music artists, albums, bands, producers and record labels. It was established in 2000 by Swedish national Magnus Holmgren, who had developed an interest in Australian music when visiting as an exchange student. John Heussenstamm
John Heussenstamm (born December 28, 1953) is an American guitarist and music educator. He was the original lead guitarist in the Surf Punks, toured with the Deniece Williams Band in 1977, and was a band member of Innocent Bystanders. He is the author of ''Guitar Workout'', a book published by Hal Leonard Corporation in 2010. He is featured as an author and guitarist in ''The Gold Mine Series'', as a coauthor with Chad Johnson in ''100 Blues Lessons'' and with Paul Silbergleit in ''100 Jazz Lessons''. Heussenstamm was also a featured guitar instructor in three DVDs published by Hal Leonard: ''200 Blues Licks'', ''200 Jazz Licks'' and ''200 Country Licks''. Suze DeMarchi (born 14 February 1964) is an Australian singer-songwriter, best known for fronting the band Baby Animals (1989–1996, 2007–present). Early life DeMarchi was born in Perth, Western Australia to Walter and Shirley DeMarchi and has three older siblings; her sister Denise is also a singer. DeMarchi began her singing career in the early 1980s when she was 17, playing in local band Photoplay. Career Early years and Baby Animals In 1985, she moved to London, England where she was signed to EMI and had a fairly successful solo career in pop music, where she released a number of singles: "Young Hearts", "Big Wednesday" and "Dry Your Eyes".
