John Andrew Roth, a Canadian, was the chief executive officer and chairman of Nortel Networks between 1997 and 2001, While he was called "the most successful businessman in modern Canadian history" by ''Time'' magazine and named Canada's CEO of the Year by a Bay Street panel in the fall of 2000, by the ignominious end of his career it became clear that his mismanagement destroyed the company. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, in 1942. Career at Nortel Roth joined Northern Telecom in 1969 as a design engineer, rising to become CEO after a long career. John Roth (musician)
John Roth is an American guitarist, best known for his work with the rock bands Winger, Black Oak Arkansas, and Giant, has been touring and recording with national acts since the mid-1980s. Biography Roth got his start at the age of 19 when Jim Dandy, lead vocalist of Black Oak Arkansas, asked him to join the band as lead guitarist in 1986. After touring the U.S. and Canada with Black Oak in the mid 1980s, Roth joined forces with Survivor's lead vocalist Jimi Jamison in 1989 to record Jamison's first solo release ''When Love Comes Down''. The first single, "Rock Hard", co-written by Roth, was featured on the hit television series '' Baywatch''. John Roth (geneticist)
John Roger Roth (born 14 March 1939) is an American geneticist, bacterial physiologist, and evolutionist. He is a Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Davis. He became well known for his early studies on the structure and regulation of the '' his'' operon of ''Salmonella'', and went on to investigate regulation in systems as diverse as suppression by tRNA, NAD biosynthesis, and the Vitamin B12-dependent metabolism of small molecules such as ethanolamine and propanediol. In collaboration with David Botstein and Nancy Kleckner, he developed the use of transposons as genetic tools. As a by-product of his study of transposons, he developed an interest in chromosomal duplications, which are frequent in bacteria. He has recently authored several papers on the involvement of such small-effect mutations on evolution under selection.
