Richardson's Theatre
Richardson's Theatre or Richardson's Show was a travelling fairground theatre founded in 1798 by John Richardson (1766–1836), which performed in London and the surrounding area in the early nineteenth century. History Richardson began his career as an actor. He joined Mrs. Penley's travelling theatre company in 1782, but on seeing the small profits to be made with her, he left acting and moved to London, becoming a broker. He eventually saved enough money to open his own troupe. Richardson first opened his theatrical production at Bartholomew Fair in 1798 using scenery from Drury Lane. The performances took place in a narrow booth (100 feet by 30 feet), colourful and brightly lit. The show toured, in the London area, to such fairs as Southwark, Brook Green and Greenwich. Over time, Richardson's booth expanded, and he ran several performances simultaneously, and he could stage over a dozen burlesques and melodramas each day. John Richardson (Quaker)
John Richardson (1667–1753) was an English Quaker minister and autobiographer. Early life John Richardson was born in 1667, probably in the village of North Cave, East Riding of Yorkshire, where his father, William Richardson (1614–1679), a shepherd, had been converted to Quakerism by William Dewsberry or Dewsbury in about 1652. He was twelve when his father died, leaving his mother with a livestock farm to run and five children. John had one older sister, who died about 1682, and three younger brothers, of whom the youngest was born about 1676. John Richardson (bishop Of Ardagh)
John Richardson (1580–1654) was an English bishop of the Church of Ireland. He was nominated Bishop of Ardagh on 8 April 1633 and consecrated in September that year. He was also Archdeacon of Derry from 1622 to 1634; and Archdeacon of Connor from 1639 to 1654. He left Ireland before the Irish Rebellion of 1641, Rebellion of 1641 and died in London on 11 August 1654. Life He was born near Chester, entered Trinity College, Dublin, graduated M.A., and became a fellow in 1600. In the same year he was selected with James Ussher and another as lay preacher at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. Richardson's part was to preach on Wednesdays, and explain the prophecies of Isaiah. He later took holy orders, and was created D.D. in 1614. Richardson held many preferments. John Ingles Richardson (born 15 March 1938) is a former Australian politician. He was the Liberal member for Forest Hill in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1976 to 2002. Richardson was born in Shepparton to shopkeeper William Richardson and his wife Ethelwyn Ingles Smith. He attended public schools in Kerang before attending Ivanhoe Grammar School and finally Bendigo Teachers' College, from which he graduated as a primary teacher in 1957. He became a schoolteacher in Braybrook Primary School and a lecturer at Footscray Technical College; finally, in 1963, he received a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University. On 11 May 1963, he married Alice Mary Salmon, with whom he had two children. BGen John Alexander "Jack" Richardson (1 December 1932 – 2 June 2010) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 to 2002. His career was in education and defence. During his term with the Canadian Forces, he attained the rank of Brigadier General. He graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce, then from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education with a Masters of Education. He served with the Canadian Forces from 1952, including a tour of duty in Germany. He eventually reached the rank of Brigadier General as a reservist. In 1961, he joined Norwood Secondary School where he was a teacher and vice-principal and served at other schools, finally reaching Stratford, Ontario where he became superintendent of instruction. John Richardson (September 30, 1886 – January 24, 1976) was an American attorney and political figure from Massachusetts. Early life Richardson was born on September 30, 1886, in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to John and Louisa Storrow (Cabot) Richardson. He attended Noble and Greenough School, Harvard College (A.B. 1908), and Harvard Law School (LL.B. 1911). While at Harvard, Richardson was captain of the Harvard crew and was elected to the Harvard Varsity Club's Hall of Fame. On September 7, 1909, Richardson married Hope Hemenway, the daughter of Augustus and Harriet Hemenway. John Peter Richardson III (September 25, 1831 – July 6, 1899) was the 83rd governor of South Carolina from 1886 to 1890. Family and early life Richardson was born in Clarendon County, South Carolina, to John Peter Richardson II, a former Governor of South Carolina, and Juliana Augusta Manning. After graduating from South Carolina College in 1849, Richardson managed Elmswood Plantation in Clarendon County. He was also elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives during antebellum South Carolina. Service in the American Civil War With the outbreak of the American Civil War, Richardson enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862 and was on the staff of Brigadier General James Cantey until the end of the war.
