John Preston (born 1953) is an English journalist and novelist. He is the author of books and screenplays which became successful films on Netflix ('' The Dig'' with Ralph Fiennes, Lily James and Carey Mulligan) and award-winning series on BBC ('' A Very English Scandal'' with Hugh Grant) and on ITV ('' Stonehouse'', with Matthew Macfadyen). Career John Preston attended Marlborough College in Wiltshire from 1967 to 1971. He worked as the Arts Editor of ''The Evening Standard'' and ''The Sunday Telegraph''. John Preston (December 11, 1945 in Medfield, Massachusetts – April 28, 1994 in Portland, Maine) was an American author of gay erotica and an editor of gay nonfiction anthologies. Life and works He grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts, later living in a number of major American cities before settling in Portland, Maine in 1979. John Preston Courville (August 18, 1939 – March 4, 2011), known professionally as Johnny Preston, was an American rock and roll singer, best known for his 1959 international number one hit " Running Bear". Life and career Born in Port Arthur, Texas, of Cajun and German ancestry, Preston sang in high school choral contests throughout the state of Texas. He formed a rock and roll band called the Shades, who were seen performing at a local club by J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson. Richardson offered Preston the chance to record a teenage tragedy song he had written, " Running Bear", which they did in Houston, Texas, in 1958. Colonel William Preston (December 25, 1729 – June 28, 1783) was an Irish-born American military officer, planter and politician who founded a political dynasty. After service in the French and Indian War, Preston served five years in the House of Burgesses before becoming one of the fifteen signatories of the Fincastle Resolutions, then a colonel in the Virginia militia during the American Revolutionary War. Sir John Preston, Lord Fentonbarns (died 1616), of Penicuik, was a Scottish lawyer and judge who became lord president of the court of session.
