John Moore (production Designer)
John Moore (1924 – September 27, 2006) was an American costume designer, set decorator, and production designer for films. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Art Direction for ''El Cid''. Additional credits include ''A Farewell to Arms'', ''55 Days at Peking'', ''The Fall of the Roman Empire'', and '' A Matter of Time''. During the 1960s and 1970s, he also worked for the Salzburg Festivals where he designed the settings for ''Il rappresentazione die anima e di corpo'', Der Rosenkavalier and Jedermann in cooperation with Veniero Colasanti. (''The Knight of the Rose'' or ''The Rose-Bearer''), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel ''Les amours du chevalier de Faublas'' and Molière's comedy ''Monsieur de Pourceaugnac''. It is possibly a translation of the Dutch play ''Elckerlijc'' (Everyman). Like John Bunyan's 1678 Christian novel ''The Pilgrim's Progress'', ''Everyman'' uses allegorical characters to examine the question of Salvation (Christianity), Christian salvation and explain that Man must have a relationship with God to attain it. Salzburg Festival
The Salzburg Festival () is a prominent festival of music and drama established in 1920. It is held each summer, for five weeks starting in late July, in Salzburg, Austria, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The set decorator is the head of the set decoration department in the film and television industry, responsible for selecting, designing, fabricating, and sourcing the " set dressing" elements of each set in a Feature Film, Television, or New Media episode or commercial, in support of the story and characters of the script. The set decorator is responsible for each décor element inside the sets, from practical lighting, technology, art, furniture, drapery, floor coverings, books, collectables, to exterior furnishings such as satellite dishes, Old West water troughs, streetlamps, traffic lights, garden furniture and sculptures.
