John Mieremet
Johannes (John/Johnny) Mieremet (10 May 1960 – 2 November 2005) was a Dutch underworld figure associated with the Willem Endstra extortion and assassination. Born in Amsterdam, Mieremet was murdered at the age of 45, while conducting business in Pattaya, Thailand at around 10:00 a.m. local time. He had survived several earlier assassination attempts; one in 2002, and another on 26 February 2005, when he was shot in the leg and stomach by two perpetrators on a motorcycle. Mieremet's former lawyer Evert Hingst had been gunned down two days earlier, on Monday 31 October 2005. Hingst's murder was one of several in a string of three related underworld liquidations during late October and early November 2005 and one in a longer series of liquidations that started in 2000. Evert Hingst
Evert Constantijn Hingst (22 March 1969 – 31 October 2005) was a Dutch lawyer. He was murdered in Amsterdam, one day before he was to talk to various media about the various investigations the Dutch Department of Justice was conducting after him. Among Hingst's clients were many noted criminals, including Sam Klepper and John Mieremet, who was once shot in front of Hingst's office. After this assault, Mieremet had claimed that Hingst had tried to set him up and promised revenge. Hingst was gunned down on 31 October. His murder was one of several in a string of underworld killings during late October and early November 2005 and one in a longer series of assassinations that started in 2000.
