John McGlynn (actor)
John McGlynn (born 8 September 1953) is a Scottish actor and musician. Born John Nicholson, he was educated at the Royal High School in Edinburgh, where he was active in the dramatic society. McGlynn's roles include that of vet Calum Buchanan in the British television series '' All Creatures Great and Small'' between January 1988 and September 1989. He also featured as DI Tom Adams in the BBC crime thriller series Silent Witness in series 1, 1996, amongst many other TV film and theatre roles. He played Balmoral Castle's head gillie in the 2006 film '' The Queen''. The Royal High School (RHS) of Edinburgh is a co-educational school administered by the City of Edinburgh Council. The school was founded in 1128 and is one of the oldest schools in Scotland. It serves around 1,400 pupils drawn from four feeder primaries in the north-west of the city: Blackhall primary school, Clermiston primary school, Cramond and Davidson's Mains. Alexander Reid (1914–1982) was a Scotland, Scottish journalist, playwright and poet, "one of the neglected dramatists of the Scottish Renaissance". His two best-known plays are ''The Lass wi' the Muckle Mou'' (1950), based on the legend of Thomas the Rhymer and ''The Warld's Wonder'' (1953), about Michael Scot, the famous Magician (paranormal), magician. Life Alexander Reid was born on 19 August 1914 in Edinburgh, and educated at George Heriot's School. From 1929 to 1936 he worked as a journalist for the ''Edinburgh Evening News'', before writing on Scottish history and literature for the ''SMT Magazine''.
