John Masiarcyzk Sr.
John Masiarcyzk Sr. is the former and inaugural mayor of the city of Deltona, Florida. Early life Masiarcyzk was born in Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from high school and served during the Vietnam War era, and later was stationed at Naval Air Station Sanford in Sanford, Florida. When he completed his Naval Service, he later retired from the US Navy and moved to Deltona, Florida. Political career In 1995, Masiarcyzk ran to become the mayor of the city of Deltona, serving from November 7, 1995, until November 8, 2005. He ran against Roberto "Bob" Garcia in the general election that year. Masiarcyzk was ineligible to run for re-election in 2005 due to term limits. In 2005, Dennis Mulder declared his candidacy to succeed Masiarcyzk as mayor and later won that year defeating City Commissioner Doug Horn. David Santiago
David Santiago (born December 14, 1970) is a Republican politician from Florida. He served one term on the Deltona City Commission from 2003 to 2007 and four terms in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012 to 2020, representing the 27th District, which includes southern Volusia County. History Santiago was born in Dover, New Jersey, and joined the United States Army Reserve after graduating from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York. He was honorably discharged eight years later. Santiago moved to the state of Florida in 1991 after his father-in-law gave him a house in Deltona, Florida as a wedding gift. Naval Air Station Sanford was a naval air station of the United States Navy in Sanford, Florida, approximately 20 miles north of Orlando, Florida. Opening less than a year after the start of World War II, NAS Sanford's initial function was as an advanced training base for land-based patrol bombers, followed by carrier-based fighter aircraft.
