John Alexander Maclean (born 27 April 1946) is a former Australian Test cricketer who played in four Test matches and two One Day Internationals in 1978 and 1979. A wicket-keeper, Maclean played for Australia following the defection of many of the leading Australian cricketers to the competing World Series Cricket competition. John Patterson MacLean (March 12, 1848 – August 12, 1939) was an American Universalist minister and archaeologist and historian. While at Ohio State University he became a historian of the Shakers. Biography He was born on March 12, 1848, in Franklin, Ohio. In 1864 at age sixteen he entered the National Normal University in Lebanon, Ohio. In 1867 he started at the Theological School of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, and he qualified for the ministry in 1869. In 1887 he went to the Island of Mull in Scotland to collect material for his "History of the Macleans." He received his Ph.D. in 1894. He died on August 12, 1939, in Greenville, Ohio and was buried in Franklin, Ohio. John Alexander Maclean, OAM (born 27 May 1966) is an Australian triathlete, rower, and motivational speaker. A promising rugby league player in his youth, he became a paraplegic after being knocked from his bicycle by a truck in 1988. He subsequently became the first paraplegic to finish the Ironman World Championship and the first to swim the English Channel. Later, he was part of the athletics team at both the Olympics and Paralympics in 2000, and won a silver medal in rowing at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.
