Raymond A. Pryor (December 26, 1954 – February 24, 2023) was a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, who represented the 85th District from 2009 to 2010. Career The Ross County native was a graduate of Ohio University – Chillicothe, who majored in Business Management Technology. He served six years in the U.S. Navy. Pryor worked for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for 25 years as a Veteran’s Representative and Veterans Licensing Coordinator. During his tenure, he helped develop a state licensing and certification program for Ohio veterans hailed as a national model. He is also a certified substitute teacher and an apprentice auctioneer. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Members are limited to four successive two-year elected terms (terms are considered successive if they are separated by less than four years). Time served by appointment to fill out another representative's uncompleted term does not count against the term limit. There are 99 members in the house, elected from single-member districts. Washington Court House (often abbreviated as Washington C.H.) is a city in Fayette County, Ohio, United States, and its county seat. The population was 14,401 at the 2020 census. The area was initially settled by Virginia veterans of the American Revolution, who received the land from the government as payment for their service in the war. Name Officially named Washington as far back as 1910, the "Court House" suffix was used to distinguish the city from other places in the state with "Washington" in their name (Ohio also has an Old Washington, Ohio, Old Washington, New Washington, Ohio, New Washington, Washingtonville, Ohio, Washingtonville, and Port Washington, Ohio, Port Washington). Joe Sulzer
Joseph P. Sulzer is an American Democratic politician, and was mayor of Chillicothe, Ohio. Sulzer served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree by Capital University Law School. Returning to Chillicothe, Sulzer was elected to the city council, where he served for six years. In 1987, Sulzer became mayor of Chillicothe. In 1992, Sulzer entered the Democratic primary contest for the United States House of Representatives in Ohio's sixth congressional district. He lost that primary race to Ted Strickland. Sulzer served as Chillicothe mayor until 1996. In 1997, Sulzer was appointed to fill out the term of a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives that had become vacant. While serving in the legislature, Chillicothe city council member Margaret Planton was appointed his successor as mayor.
