John Krebs (racing Driver)
John Arthur Krebs (October 1, 1950 - March 16, 2023) was an American professional stock car racing driver. Hailing from Roseville, California, he was a 15-year veteran of NASCAR's Cup Series, competing in 19 events from 1978 to 1994. He also competed in the Winston West Series for many years, scoring one win in the series in 1978. Additionally, Krebs competed in two ARCA Hooters SuperCar Series races, both at Texas World Speedway. Krebs was involved in an accident with Derrike Cope at Sears Point Raceway in 1994 that sent Krebs flipping outside of the racetrack's limits. It would turn out to be the final race of Krebs' Cup Series career, as he failed to qualify for the races at Indianapolis and Phoenix later that season. Later on Krebs owned a team in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. The team, John Krebs Racing, competed in their last race in 2018 with driver Takuma Koga. Ascot Park (speedway)
Ascot Park, first named Los Angeles Speedway and later New Ascot Stadium, was a dirt racetrack located near Gardena, California. Ascot Park was open between 1957 and 1990. The track held numerous United States Auto Club (USAC) national tour races and three NASCAR Grand National (now NASCAR Cup Series) races. The Turkey Night Grand Prix was held at the track for several decades. Derrike Cope
Derrike Wayne Cope (born November 3, 1958) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He is best known for his surprise win in the 1990 Daytona 500. He last competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 15 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Rick Ware Racing in an alliance with his own StarCom Racing. Cope also was team manager of StarCom. As of 2022, he is the last driver to compete in at least one NASCAR Cup Series race in five consecutive decades (1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s). Early life and education Cope was born in San Diego, California and raised in Spanaway, Washington. In high school, he enjoyed auto racing and baseball. The ARCA Menards Series is an American stock car racing, stock car series, the premier division of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). It is considered a minor, semi-professional league of stock car racing, used as a feeder series into the three national touring series of NASCAR, and hosts events at a variety of track types including superspeedways, Road racing, road courses, and Dirt track racing, dirt tracks. The ARCA Menards Series West, formerly the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, NASCAR AutoZone West Series, NASCAR Winston West Series, NASCAR Winston Transcontinental Series and NASCAR Camping World West Series, is a regional stock car racing series owned and operated by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the NASCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
