John Jenkins (poet)
John Jenkins (born 1949) is an Australian poet, non-fiction author and editor.> He is the author, co-author, editor or co-editor of many books, mostly poetry and non-fiction. Early life and education Jenkins was born in Melbourne in 1949, and grew up in the suburb of Elwood, the younger of two children. He attended Burwood Technical School and Box Hill High School. He studied business subjects at Swinburne University of Technology. Career Jenkins worked in educational publishing in the 1970s, then widely in commercial journalism until 2000. He has since worked as a book editor, and taught at Box Hill Institute of TAFE, University of Melbourne (School of Creative Arts) and La Trobe University. Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/ Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Its name generally refers to a metropolitan area known as Greater Melbourne, comprising an urban agglomeration of 31 local municipalities, although the name is also used specifically for the local municipality of City of Melbourne based around its central business area. Radio Adelaide
Radio Adelaide (call sign: 5UV) is Australia's first community radio station. The signal reaches across the Adelaide metropolitan area to the Mid North, the Yorke Peninsula and Fleurieu Peninsula, the southern Barossa, Kangaroo Island, Riverland and parts of the Eyre Peninsula broadcasting at 13 kilowatts on 101.5 MHz FM. The transmitter power was only 7 kW until an upgrade on 2 November 2006. In 1972, 5UV was established, by the University of Adelaide, originally broadcasting at 531 AM, later moving to 101.5 FM, as Radio Adelaide, in 2002, and including digital radio, in 2011. FAW Christina Stead Award
The Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) was established in Sydney in 1928, with the aim of bringing writers together and promoting their interests. The organisation played a key role in the establishment of the Australian Society of Authors in 1963, a national body and now the main professional organisation in Australia for writers of literary works. Radio National, known on-air as RN, is an Australia-wide public service broadcasting radio network run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). From 1947 until 1985, the network was known as ABC Radio 2.
