John Jacob Abel
John Jacob Abel (19 May 1857 – 26 May 1938) was an American biochemist and pharmacologist. He established the pharmacology department at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1893, and then became America's first full-time professor of pharmacology. During his time at Hopkins, he made several important medical advancements, especially in the field of hormone extraction. In addition to his laboratory work, he founded several significant scientific journals such as the ''Journal of Biological Chemistry'' and the '' Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics''. Leonard Rowntree
Leonard George Rowntree (1883–1959) was a Canadians, Canadian physician and medical researcher who was credited with founding the research tradition at the Mayo Clinic. He is most well known for pioneering kidney research including the Rowntree test for kidney function; Kidney dialysis, dialysis; the intravenous pyelogram and plasmapheresis. Rowntree was awarded the Medal for Merit in 1946. Early life Rowntree was born in London, Ontario, on April 10, 1883. was a Japanese chemist. He is known for being the first to isolate epinephrine in 1901. Early life and education Takamine was born in Takaoka, Toyama, Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, in November 1854. Oswald Schmiedeberg
Johann Ernst Oswald Schmiedeberg (10 October 1838 – 12 July 1921) was a Baltic German pharmacologist. In 1866 he earned his medical doctorate from the University of Dorpat with a thesis concerning the measurement of chloroform in blood, before becoming the first professor of pharmacology at the University of Strasbourg, where he remained for 46 years.
