Jack Haley
John Joseph Haley Jr. (August 10, 1898 – June 6, 1979) was an American actor, comedian, dancer, radio host, singer, drummer and vaudevillian. He was best known for his portrayal of the Tin Man and his farmhand counterpart Hickory in the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film '' The Wizard of Oz''. Early life Haley was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 10, 1898 (although some sources say 1897). His Canadian father John Joseph Haley Sr. was a waiter by trade, and later a ship's steward. He died in the wreck of the schooner ''Charles A. Briggs'' at Nahant, Massachusetts on February 1, 1898, aged 31, before Jack was born. He had one older brother, William Anthony "Bill" Haley, a musician, who developed pneumonia which caused tuberculosis, and he died in 1915 at the age of twenty. John Joseph Haley III (October 25, 1933 – April 21, 2001), known as Jack Haley Jr., was an American director, producer, and writer, and a two-time Emmy Award recipient. His credits include directing the 1974 compilation film '' That's Entertainment!''. On September 15, 1974 Haley married Liza Minnelli, the daughter of Judy Garland. Garland starred with his father, Jack Haley, in '' The Wizard of Oz''. Early life Haley was born on October 25, 1933, in Los Angeles, the son of Florence and Jack Haley, an actor and comedian. Jack Kevin Haley (January 27, 1964 – March 16, 2015) was an American professional basketball player. A 6'10" forward/ center from Huntington Beach High School and UCLA, Haley spent nine seasons (1988–1992; 1993–1998) in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio Spurs. Early life and education Haley was the son of noted surfing pioneer Jack Haley Sr. He attended Huntington Beach High School and UCLA. Chicago Bulls tenure Haley was drafted in 1987 by the Chicago Bulls and made his NBA debut on November 9, 1988. John Harvey Haley (1930 or 1931 – December 4, 2003) was an American attorney who pled guilty to an offense in connection with the Whitewater controversy. Early life and education Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Haley graduated from high school in Siloam Springs and earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his law degree from the University of Arkansas. Career Haley clerked for Judge George Rose Smith of the Arkansas Supreme Court, then joined the Rose Law Firm as a partner and subsequently opened his own law firm in Little Rock. He later was a member of various Arkansas law firms and headed a commercial real estate company. John Wesley Haley (August 25, 1878, Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada - January 26, 1951, Cleveland, Ohio, USA) was pastor, missionary and mission strategist. He grew up in a farming family near Sarnia, Ontario, was involved in church planting in Saskatchewan, worked as a missionary in Mozambique, South Africa, and Burundi. William John Clifton Haley (; July 6, 1925 – February 9, 1981) was an American rock and roll musician. He is credited by many with first popularizing this form of music in the early 1950s with his group Bill Haley & His Comets and million-selling hits such as "Rock Around the Clock", "See You Later, Alligator", "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Rocket 88", "Skinny Minnie", and "Razzle Dazzle".
