John Fleeting
John Fleeting, real name Claude Stuart Fleeting (1908 – 24 March 1984),"Obituaries", '' Sydney Morning Herald'', 29 March 1984 was an Australian actor best known for his film appearances for Ken G. Hall. In 1936, he appeared in an amateur production of '' The Last of Mrs Cheyney'' alongside Shirley Ann Richards. Both were seen by a talent scout from Cinesound Productions. He was subsequently seen by Ken G. Hall in the play ''Men without Wives'' and Hall cast him as the romantic male lead in ''Gone to the Dogs''. He grew up in Manildra. Fleeting served in the Australian army during World War II from 1940-46. He was given leave to appear in ''100,000 Cobbers''. ''The Sydney Mail'' was an Australian magazine published weekly in Sydney. It was the weekly edition of ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' newspaper and ran from 1860 to 1938. History ''The Sydney Mail'' was first published on 17 July 1860 by John Fairfax and Sons. In 1871 the magazine was renamed for the first time, and it was published as ''The Sydney Mail and New South Wales Advertiser'' from 1871 to 1912. In 1912 it reverted to its original name, ''The Sydney Mail'', and was published under this masthead until 28 December 1938 when the magazine ceased publication. It was published on a weekly basis and became known for its illustrations. ''Forty Thousand Horsemen'' (aka ''40,000 Horsemen'') is a 1940 Australian war film directed by Charles Chauvel. The film tells the story of the Australian Light Horse (mounted rifleman as distinct from cavalry) which operated in the desert at the Sinai and Palestine campaign during World War I. It follows the adventures of three rowdy heroes in fighting and romance. The film culminates at the Battle of Beersheba which is reputedly "the last successful cavalry charge in history". The film was clearly a propaganda weapon, to aid in recruitment and lift the pride of Australians at home during World War II. He runs a sideshow act with his daughter, Pat, and ex-Shakespearean actor, Horace Worthington Howard, which is struggling to make money. One of the main attractions is Pat's voice. One day Pat is invited to sing at a party held by Colonel Cameron and his daughter Eve, but her voice fails her. A specialist tells Barney that Pat requires an expensive operation. ''I'll Leave It to You'' is a play by Noël Coward. He wrote it in 1919, when he was aged 19, and it was produced in Manchester and then the West End of London in 1920. Described as "a light comedy in three acts", the play portrays an uncle's successful stratagem to provoke his idle nieces and nephews into working hard and making careers for themselves. Background Noël Coward had been a child actor and then a budding juvenile lead. In his spare time, encouraged by his close friend and colleague Esmé Wynne, he began to write stories, songs and plays. He was further encouraged by the producer Gilbert Miller, who suggested the idea for ''I'll Leave It to You''.
