John Crosse (announcer)
John Crosse (born c. 1939) is a British former radio DJ, presenter and continuity announcer, known for being one of the voices of the Yorkshire Television region of Independent Television for nearly 30 years. Career Crosse began his broadcasting career on pirate station Radio London in the 1960s, (where, he used the pseudonym John Sedd). He then moved to work for sales company Radiovision, which sold airtime for a couple of pirate radio stations. Later, he read the news on BBC Radio 4, and then joined Southern Television for a short stint as continuity announcer for the channel. ITV (TV Network)
ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. ITV was for four decades a network of separate companies which provided regional television services and also shared programmes between each other to be shown on the entire network. Pirate radio or a pirate radio station is a radio station that broadcasts without a valid license. Wonderful Radio London
Radio London, also known as Big L and Wonderful Radio London, was a top 40 (in London's case, the " Fab 40") offshore commercial station that operated from 23 December 1964 to 14 August 1967, from a ship anchored in the North Sea, off Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, England. The station, like other offshore radio operators, was dubbed a pirate radio station, and went off air following the introduction of the Marine, &c., Broadcasting (Offences) Act 1967 which made it illegal to supply or assist such stations except in an emergency. The station was notable for helping to launch the careers of various disc jockeys who went on to work at BBC Radio 1. Southern Television
Southern Television was the ITV broadcasting licence holder for the South and South-East of England from 30 August 1958 to 31 December 1981. The company was launched as 'Southern Television Limited' and the title 'Southern Television' was consistently used on-air throughout its life. However, in 1966, during the application process for contracts running from 1968, the company renamed itself 'Southern Independent Television Limited', a title which was used until 1980 when the company reverted to its original corporate name. In broadcasting, continuity or presentation (or station break in the U.S. and Canada) is announcements, messages and graphics played by the broadcaster between specific programmes. Redvers Kyle
Redvers Buller Kyle (25 November 1929 – 18 November 2015) was a South African-born British broadcaster, voice over artist, actor and composer, best known for his work on the ITV network in the United Kingdom over forty years. Biography Redvers Kyle was born in Germiston, South Africa and named after General Sir Redvers Buller, the British military commander in the early stages of the Anglo-Boer War. During his university studies, he began his broadcasting career with the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Johannesburg, mostly in children's programmes, and appeared in dramatic productions including ''Boy with a Cart'', which won him an award at a national drama festival.
