Dr John Connolly (born 31 May 1968) is an Irish writer who is best known for his series of novels starring private detective Charlie Parker. Biography Education and early career Connolly was educated at Synge Street CBS and graduated with a BA in English from Trinity College, Dublin, and a Masters in journalism from Dublin City University. Before becoming a full-time novelist, he worked as a journalist, a barman, a local government official, a waiter and a gofer at Harrods department store in London. John Patrick Connolly (June 28, 1894 – October 30, 1971) was an American politician who served as clerk of the Suffolk Superior Court of Civil Business from 1936 to 1939. He was convicted of bribery in 1941 for receiving kickbacks from court employees. Johnny Óg Connolly is an Irish musician. A son of traditional musician Johnny Connolly of Inis Bearachain, Connemara, Connolly began playing the accordion aged nine, learning from his father and Micheal Mheáirt Ó Coisdealbha. Two years later he was the winner of the Slógadh and Fleadh Ceoil All-Ireland on the button accordion. Aged fourteen, he joined Na h-Ancairí, featuring singer John Beag Ó Flatharta, playing in the band for eight years. In 1994 he joined the Seán Keane Band, performing widely in Europe and North America. In 1998, he toured with '' Lord of the Dance''. In 2003 he settled in Connemara. Johnny Connolly was an Irish musician from Connemara, and one of Ireland's most prominent players of the melodeon (one-row button accordion). In a 2008 TG4 interview, Connolly described how he first took up the instrument: his parents left the children home at Inis Bearacháin to go watch currach A currach ( ) is a type of Irish boat with a wooden frame, over which animal skins or hides were once stretched, though now canvas is more usual. It is sometimes anglicised as "curragh". John Bowden Connally Jr. (February 27, 1917June 15, 1993) was an American politician who served as the 39th governor of Texas from 1963 to 1969 and as the 61st United States secretary of the treasury from 1971 to 1972. He began his career as a History of the Democratic Party (United States), Democrat and later became a History of the Republican Party (United States), Republican in 1973. 1942 USA Outdoor Track And Field Championships
The 1942 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were organized by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and served as the national championships in outdoor track and field for the United States. The men's edition was held at Downing Stadium in New York City, New York, and it took place 19–20 June. The women's meet was held separately at Carey Stadium in Ocean City, New Jersey, on 4 July. At the men's championships, only the pole vault and weight throw meet records were broken due to World War II. The women's competition also suffered due to gas rationing from the war, although Stella Walsh won the maximum number of events in the 200 m, long jump, and discus throw. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 – February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s.
