John Collett Postumus Elieson
John Collett Postumus Elieson (21 February 1810 – 27 May 1876) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. Elieson was born at Rygge in Østfold, Norway. He worked as an attorney and later district stipendiary magistrate in Drammen. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1845, 1848, 1854, 1857 and 1859, representing the constituency of Drammen. He was married to Ingeborg Eivindsdatter Aarhusmoen (1817–1902). His daughter Kirsten Anna Janette Elieson (1839–1913) married Johan Christian Heuch, bishop and member of the Heuch merchant family in Kragerø Kragerø () is a municipality in Telemark county, Norway. Rygge
Rygge was a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. It was merged into Moss municipality on 1 January 2020. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rygge. Rygge was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The emblem of Rygge is the Pasque flower. Rygge is connected to Oslo by double-tracked railway, and four-lane freeway. Rygge was served by Moss Airport, which has not been operational since 2016. General information Name The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old ''Rygge'' farm, since the first church was built there. The Old Norse form of the name is not known (the oldest manuscripts from 1353-1528 use the form "Ryg(g)jof"). A possible (but uncertain) reconstruction is ''Rýgjuhof''. Østfold
Østfold () is a county in Eastern Norway, which from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023 was part of Viken. Østfold borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat is Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. On 1 January 2024, Østfold was re-established as an independent county, however without the former municipality of Rømskog, which was amalgamated with the Akershus municipality Aurskog-Høland in 2020. Many manufacturing facilities are situated here, such as the world's most advanced biorefinery, Borregaard in Sarpsborg. Fredrikstad has shipyards. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. His paper ''Omkring Bǫglungasǫgur'', on the Bagler sagas, was printed in 1959. In December 1957 he married Karen Blauuw, who would later become a professor.
