John Clare (journalist)
John Clare (born 1955) is an English people, English author, journalist and chief executive of Lions Den Communications. He was a producer and reporter at ITN where he covered some of the biggest stories of the 1980s including the Troubles in Northern Ireland, Hungerford Massacre, the Hungerford Massacre, the Heysel stadium disaster and trial of the Liverpool fans, Bradford fire, the Bradford football stadium fire, the trial of Brighton bomb, the ''Brighton Bomber'', Patrick McGee, and his associates, and Broadwater Farm riot, the Broadwater Farm trials. He also, with reporter David Chater, covered Tom McClean, Tom McClean's historic single-handed rowing across the Atlantic, a feat for which Tom still holds the world speed record. Fleet Street
Fleet Street is a street in Central London, England. It runs west to east from Temple Bar, London, Temple Bar at the boundary of the City of London, Cities of London and City of Westminster, Westminster to Ludgate Circus at the site of the London Wall and the River Fleet from which the street was named. ''LWT News'' was a regional news service provided by London Weekend Television, serving the Greater London area in various formats between January 1982 and 3 January 1993. History On Friday 1 January 1982, LWT began extending its broadcasting hours on Friday evenings - taking over from the ITV London weekday franchise Thames Television at 5:15pm, rather than the previous start time of 7pm. The Independent Broadcasting Authority's decision to award extended hours to LWT meant that the station became contractually responsible for providing the regional news programme on Friday evenings. Prior to the franchise round, the regulator had warned that the winning London contractors were expected to provide an improved regional news service for the capital throughout the week. Greg Dyke
Gregory Dyke (born 20 May 1947) is a British media executive, football administrator, journalist and broadcaster. Since the 1960s, Dyke has had a long career in the UK in print and then broadcast journalism. He is credited with introducing " tabloid" television to British broadcasting, and reviving the ratings of TV-am. In the 1990s, he held chief executive positions at LWT Group, Pearson Television, and Channel 5. Dyke was director-general of the BBC from January 2000 to January 2004; he resigned following heavy criticism of the BBC's news reporting process in the Hutton Inquiry. He was also a director of Manchester United and chairman of Brentford football clubs, and from 2013 to 2016 was chairman of the Football Association. Roland Rat is a British television puppet character. He was created, operated and voiced by David Claridge, who had previously designed and operated Mooncat, a puppet in the Children's ITV television programme ''Get Up and Go!''. TVAM
TV-am was a TV company that broadcast the ITV franchise for breakfast television in the United Kingdom from 1 February 1983 until 31 December 1992. The station was the UK's first national operator of a commercial breakfast television franchise. Its daily broadcasts were between 6:00 am and 9:25 am. Throughout its nine years and 10 months of broadcast, the station regularly had problems, resulting in numerous management changes, especially in its early years. It also suffered from major financial cutbacks hampering its operations.
