John Carnochan
John Carnochan is a film editor. He is noted particularly for editing animated films, including Walt Disney Animation Studios' '' The Little Mermaid'' (1989), ''Beauty and the Beast'' (1991), and ''The Lion King'' (1994, co-edited by Tom Finan). Upon completion of ''The Lion King'', many employees left Disney with President Jeffrey Katzenberg to work at DreamWorks Animation, with Carnochan being one of them. He edited DreamWorks's 2nd film, ''The Road to El Dorado'' (2000, co-edited by Vicki Hiatt, Dan Molina, and Lynne Southerland). After working on ''The Road to El Dorado'', Carnochan edited the first two films for Blue Sky Studios, ''Ice Age'' (2002) and ''Robots'' (2005). Film editing is both a creative and a technical part of the post-production process of filmmaking. The term is derived from the traditional process of working with film stock, film which increasingly involves the use Digital cinema, of digital technology. When putting together some sort of video composition, typically, one would need a collection of shots and footages that vary from one another. The act of adjusting the shots someone has already taken, and turning them into something new is known as film editing. The film editor works with raw footage, selecting Shot (filmmaking), shots and combining them into Sequence (filmmaking), sequences which create a finished Film, motion picture. The Stunt Man
''The Stunt Man'' is a 1980 American satirical psychological black comedy film starring Peter O'Toole, Steve Railsback and Barbara Hershey, and directed by Richard Rush. The film was adapted by Lawrence B. Marcus and Rush from the 1970 novel by Paul Brodeur. It tells the story of a young fugitive who hides as a stunt double on the set of a World War I movie whose charismatic director will do seemingly anything for the sake of his art. The line between illusion and reality is blurred as scenes from the inner movie cut seamlessly to "real life" and vice versa. There are examples of "movie magic", where a scene of wartime carnage is revealed as just stunt men and props, and where a shot of a crying woman becomes, with scenery, props and soundtrack, a portrait of a grieving widow at a Nazi rally. ''Arthur Christmas'' is a 2011 animated Christmas comedy film directed by Sarah Smith who co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Baynham, and starring the voices of James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen.
