John Richard Buckland
John Richard Buckland (3 August 1819 – 13 October 1874), was an Australian school teacher and first headmaster of The Hutchins School, Tasmania. Married in 1841, he and his wife had set sail a year later for New Zealand, intending to settle on the land. After disembarking at Hobart Town in February 1843 in order to visit his old school friend, Reverend J P Gell, then Headmaster of the Queen’s School, he was persuaded to accept the post of second master there. On the closure of the Queen’s School Buckland opened his own school in Fitzroy Crescent, before taking holy orders and being appointed in 1845 to the parish of St Luke’s, Richmond. He was ordained a priest in March 1846 and his appointment to Hutchins followed soon after. John Francis Buckland
John Francis Buckland (1825–1910) was an auctioneer and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. Private life John Francis Buckland was born in Runnymede, Wraysbury, England in 1832 in a farmhouse that was a former hunting lodge of King John. He immigrated to Queensland in 1862 from England. His wife was Ellen Gertrude Ashton, daughter of Joseph Ashton and Mary Hewison. Buckland died on 21 September 1910 and was buried on 22 September 1910 in Nundah Cemetery.Queensland Registrar-General of Births, Deaths & Marriages. John Channing Buckland (1844 – 4 April 1909) was a 19th-century Member of Parliament from Otago, New Zealand. Buckland was born in Auckland in 1844, the son of William Buckland and Susan (née Channing). Alfred Buckland was his uncle. Frank Buckland and Bessie Buckland were younger siblings; his brother became a politician and his sister (who married the collector and bibliographer Thomas Hocken) a notable artist and translator. Buckland received his education at Dr. Kinder's Grammar School and at St John's College in Auckland. On 17 December 1867, John Buckland married Caroline Fairburn. She was a daughter of William Thomas Fairburn. Her sister Elizabeth Fairburn was a missionary, teacher and bible translator and she was married to the missionary William Colenso. Jonathan Mark Buckland (born 11 September 1977) is an English-born Welsh musician and songwriter best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay. Raised in Pantymwyn, he began to play guitar from an early age, being influenced by acts such as The Stone Roses, My Bloody Valentine and U2. Noted for sparse and delicate arrangements, he uses the slide bar and delay pedal with a stylistic chiming and ringing timbre that led to comparisons with the Edge. Buckland has a degree in mathematics and astronomy at University College London, where he formed Coldplay with Chris Martin, Guy Berryman and Will Champion.
