Westminster (UK Parliament Constituency)
Westminster was a parliamentary constituency in the Parliament of England to 1707, the Parliament of Great Britain 1707–1800 and the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801. It returned two members to 1885 and one thereafter. The constituency was first known to have been represented in Parliament in 1545 and continued to exist until the redistribution of seats in 1918. The constituency's most famous former representatives are John Stuart Mill and Charles James Fox. John Best (British Politician)
John Best (1821 – 18 June 1865) was a British barrister and Peelite politician. Best was the son of W B Best, and was born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. He was educated at Shrewsbury School before graduating from Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1844. He was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1846, and practised on the Oxford Circuit. He was a counsel to the Palace Court from 1847 until its abolition in 1849. On 5 September 1849 he was elected to the House of Commons as Peelite Member of Parliament (MP) for Kidderminster. He stood as Conservative at the next general election in 1852, but was unseated by his Liberal opponent, Robert Lowe. Best married Mary Smith of Ismere House, Worcestershire in April 1848. John Herbert Best (born March 27, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player. A forward/center listed at 6-foot-8, he played college basketball at Tennessee Tech for 4 years, and in his senior year he ranked third in NCAA Division I in scoring with an average of 28.5 points per game. He was selected by the New Jersey Nets in the second round of the 1993 NBA draft (36th overall), but he was cut before the beginning of the 1993–94 NBA season and started his professional career in France. After playing in Puerto Rico, Switzerland and the Philippines, Best joined German team Bayer Giants Leverkusen where he was the Basketball Bundesliga Top Scorer in 2001 with an average of 22.9 points per game. John Best (11 July 1940 – 5 October 2014) was a professional soccer player who played as a defender (association football), defender, spending six seasons in the North American Soccer League (1968–1984), North American Soccer League where he was a five-time first team All Star.
