John Battle (basketball)
John Sidney Battle (born November 9, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player and pastor. A guard from Rutgers University, Battle was selected in the fourth round of the 1985 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He ended his career with 5,338 points. Battle had three nicknames: "J.B.," "Cricket," and "Pickle." Battle is married to R&B singer/recording artist Regina Belle. 1988–89 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 1988–89 NBA season was the 40th season for the Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association, and their 21st season in Atlanta, Georgia. After falling into the second round of the NBA playoffs for three straight seasons, the Hawks signed free agent and All-Star forward Moses Malone, who won a championship with the 1982–83 Philadelphia 76ers season, Philadelphia 76ers in the 1983 NBA Finals, acquired All-Star guard Reggie Theus from the 1987–88 Sacramento Kings season, Sacramento Kings, and signed undrafted rookie forward Duane Ferrell during the off-season. 1994–95 Cleveland Cavaliers Season
The 1994–95 NBA season was the 25th season for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association. This was also the team's first season playing at the Gund Arena. During the off-season, the Cavaliers signed free agents Michael Cage, and Tony Campbell. However, before the regular season began, the team lost Brad Daugherty to a back injury, and Gerald Wilkins to a ruptured Achilles tendon, as both players were out for the entire season. Despite losing both Daugherty and Wilkins, the Cavaliers posted an 11-game winning streak in December, which led them to a 20–8 start, and held a 28–19 record at the All-Star break.
