John Baldwin Sr. was an American figure skater who competed in men's singles. He finished fourth at the United States Figure Skating Championships in 1972, narrowly missing a chance to compete in the Olympics that year. Figure Skater
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The Olympic disciplines are men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; the four individual disciplines are also combined into a team event, first included in the Winter Olympics in 2014. The non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating, Theater on Ice, and four skating. From intermediate through senior-level competition, skaters generally perform two programs (the short program and the free skate), which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves. United States Figure Skating Championships
The U.S. Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of the United States. The competition is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. In the U.S. skating community, the event is often referred to informally as "Nationals". Medals are currently awarded in four disciplines: men's (boys') singles, ladies' (girls') singles, pair skating, and ice dancing in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth) on two levels, senior and junior. Medals were previously given at the novice, intermediate, and juvenile levels. John Baldwin (figure Skater)
John Baldwin, Jr. (born October 18, 1973) is an American retired figure skater. With partner Rena Inoue, he is a two-time U.S. national champion. Inoue and Baldwin are the first skaters to perform a throw triple Axel in competition. Personal life Baldwin was born in Dallas, Texas. His parents were both skating coaches. His father, John Baldwin Sr., competed as a single skater in the 1960s. His brother Don Baldwin competed in singles as well. Baldwin attended Poway High School. He proposed to his skating partner Rena Inoue in January 2008. Their first daughter was born in November 2011 and the second four years later. Baldwin and his father have a used car business, Baldwin Auto Sales, in Escondido, California. In March 2018, they were charged with non-compliance with financial reporting obligations. Don Baldwin (born November 15, 1977) is an American former competitive pair skater. With Tiffany Vise, he is the 2010 Ice Challenge silver medalist and 2012 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic bronze medalist. They were a mirror pair team, with Baldwin spinning counter-clockwise and Vise spinning clockwise. Personal life Baldwin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He is the brother of John Baldwin, also a competitive pair skater, and the son of John Baldwin, Sr. Don Baldwin married Tiffany Vise on August 23, 2015, in San Diego, California. Career Early in his career, Baldwin competed with Jennifer Brunn. He teamed up with Tiffany Vise in March 2009. They won the senior pairs' event at the Pacific Coast Sectional Championships.
