John Allan (May 22, 1856 – July 31, 1922) was a Canadian politician. Allan was the Member of Provincial Parliament for the seat of Hamilton West from 1914 to 1919. Jonathan Michael Allan (born 24 May 1983) is an English born Association football, footballer who is player/Assistant Manager at Carlisle City F.C., Carlisle City, who play in the North West Counties Football League. Career Allan joined local side Carlisle United F.C., Carlisle United at the age of 12. Johnnie Allan (born John Allen Guillot, March 10, 1938) is an American pioneer of the swamp pop musical genre. Career Born in Rayne, Louisiana, United States, Allan, a Cajun, grew up in a musical family, and at age six obtained his first guitar. By age thirteen he was playing with Walter Mouton and the Scott Playboys, a traditional Cajun music band. About two years later he switched to Lawrence Walker and the Wandering Aces, another traditional Cajun band. In 1956, he saw Elvis Presley perform live on the Louisiana Hayride music program, and shortly afterwards Allan began to play rock and roll music. In 1958, he left Walker to form the Krazy Kats. That same year he recorded "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights" for Jin Records of Ville Platte, Louisiana. He later recorded for Mercury Records and the Viking label of Crowley, Louisiana, among others. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. John Anthony Allan (27 January 1937 – 15 April 2021), sometime cited as Tony Allan, was a British geographer. He was awarded the Stockholm Water Prize in 2008 for his revolutionary virtual water concept. Although being an emeritus of the School of Oriental and African Studies and King's College London of the University of London, he still acted as a teaching Professor at King's College London. Education Allan studied at Durham University from 1955-1958, graduating with a first-class B.A in Geography. He commenced doctoral studies in 1966 at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, completing a PhD on water management in Libya in 1971. John James Allan (1887–1949) was an American minister and Salvation Army officer who served as the 8th Chief of the Staff of The Salvation Army, and a colonel in the United States Army, serving as a chaplain in both World War I and World War II. Personal life John Allan, born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, was the son of Salvation Army officers from Scotland. He was born in 1887 one year after his parents moved to the United States. Prior to becoming a Salvation Army officer, he worked as an employee for the Army's territorial headquarters for the United States' eastern territory. He played cornet in the New York Staff Band for twenty years and published various music pieces. He married Maude E. Parsons in 1909, a Salvation Army officer. Vice Admiral John Allan CMM CD (31 March 1928 – 1 May 2014) was a Canadian Forces officer who served as Commander of Maritime Command from 1 July 1979 to 6 August 1980. Career Allan joined the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) as an Ordinary Seaman in 1946. He left the RCN in 1952 as a Petty Officer 2nd class.
