Johanna Rasmussen
Johanna Maria Baltensperger Rasmussen (born 2 July 1983) is a former Danish professional footballer who last played for Linköpings FC in the Damallsvenskan and the Denmark women's national football team. She played as a forward and wore the number 13 shirt for Denmark. Club career In February 2002 Rasmussen was reported to be joining Texas Tech University on a soccer scholarship. Instead she moved to Fortuna Hjørring in summer 2002. Rasmussen represented Fortuna Hjørring in both legs of the 2003 UEFA Women's Cup Final, a 1–7 aggregate defeat to Umeå IK of Sweden. After 125 appearances for Fortuna, Rasmussen signed a contract with Umeå IK ahead of the Swedish 2008 season. In 2010 Rasmussen followed Umeå teammates Ramona Bachmann and Mami Yamaguchi to the American Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league, playing the 2010 season with Atlanta Beat who finished last. 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup
The 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, the fifth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, was an international association football competition for women held in China from 10 to 30 September 2007. Originally, China was to host the 2003 edition, but the outbreak of SARS in that country forced that event to be moved to the United States. FIFA immediately granted the 2007 event to China, which meant that no new host nation was chosen competitively until the voting was held for the 2011 Women's World Cup. The tournament opened with a record-breaking match in Shanghai, as Germany beat Argentina 11–0 to register the biggest win and the highest scoring match in Women's World Cup history, records which stood until 2019. ''Expressen'' (''The Express'') is one of two nationwide evening newspapers in Sweden, the other being '' Aftonbladet''. Regular season champion FC Gold Pride won the WPS Championship on September 26 with a 4-0 victory over the Philadelphia Independence. Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was the top-level professional women's soccer league in the United States. It began play on March 29, 2009. The league was composed of seven teams for its first two seasons and fielded six teams for the 2011 season, with continued plans for future expansion. The WPS was the highest level in the United States soccer pyramid for the women's game. On January 30, 2012, the league announced suspension of the 2012 season, citing several internal organization struggles as the primary cause. Some of these issues included an ongoing legal battle with magicJack owner Dan Borislow and the lack of resources invested into the league. On May 18, 2012, WPS announced the league folded and would not return in 2013.
