The musicians Julie Cafritz of Pussy Galore, Joey Defilipps of When People Were Shorter and Lived Near the Water and Kim Rancourt of To Live and Shave in L.A. In 1996, the band released the EP '' After That It's All Gravy'' on Fused Coil. History Gravy was founded in 1994 out of New York City by Julie Cafritz, Joey Defilipps and Kim Rancourt. In August 1996 the band released their debut EP titled '' After That It's All Gravy''. The album was produced with the assistance of Don Fleming of noise rock group B.A.L.L. B.A.L.L. Chemlab is an American industrial rock band formed in Washington D.C. in 1989 by Dylan Thomas More, Joe Frank, and Jared Louche (then known as Hendrickson). Influenced by the pioneers of the industrial genre, such as Throbbing Gristle, Chemlab mixed experimental sounds with rock and metal within an electronic framework. They released their first EP '' 10 Ton Pressure'' (1990), parted ways with Frank and moved to New York City, their base for the duration of their career. Chemlab released their debut album '' Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar'' in 1993 and toured with acts such as White Zombie, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, 16volt, and GWAR. Industrial Rock
Industrial rock is a fusion genre that fuses industrial music and rock music. It initially originated in the 1970s, and drew influence from early experimental and industrial acts such as Cromagnon, Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten and Chrome. Industrial rock became more prominent in the 1980s with the success of artists such as Killing Joke, Swans, and partially Skinny Puppy, and later spawned the offshoot genre known as industrial metal. The genre was made more accessible to mainstream audiences in the 1990s with the aid of acts such as Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, both of which have released platinum-selling records. Jared Louche (born Jared Hendrickson; December 11, 1960) is an American musician best recognized as the front-man of industrial rock outfit Chemlab. He also founded the band H3llb3nt and has collaborated with Pigface, Progrex.iv and Vampire Rodents. He released a solo album, titled ''Covergirl'' in 1999. Biography In July 1984, Jared Hendrickson and Tom Smith formed Peach of Immortality. They released a handful of demo recordings before disbanding in 1991. Louche formed Chemlab with Dylan Thomas More and Joe Frank in 1989. The band released the albums '' Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar'' (1993) and ''East Side Militia'' (1996) on Fifth Colvmn Records. He also formed H3llb3nt, a supergroup comprising himself, Bryan Barton, Charles Levi, Jordan Nogood and Eric Powell. After Chemlab dissolved in 1997, Louche found himself deep in debt and began working as an investment banker on Wall Street. Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Some groups are tied to song structures, such as Sonic Youth. Although they are not representative of the entire genre, they helped popularize noise rock among alternative rock audiences by incorporating melodies into their droning textures of sound, which set a template that numerous other groups followed. Donald Gene Fleming (born September 25, 1957) is an American musician and producer. Besides fronting a number of his own bands, (Velvet Monkeys, B.A.L.L., and Gumball) Fleming has produced Sonic Youth, Screaming Trees, Teenage Fanclub and Hole. Career Bands The Stroke Band Fleming started his musical career with the art/garage/punk group The Stroke Band of Adel, Georgia in the late 1970s. They released one album, ''Green and Yellow,'' in 1978 on Abacus Records. Citizen 23 After The Stroke Band, Don relocated to Norfolk, Va. in 1979 and formed the punkish/new wave group Citizen 23 with Elaine Barnes, Mark Myers, and, Stephen Soles.
