Joella is the stage name of Joey (born November 16, 1999), an American drag performer who competed on the seventeenth season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race''. She finished in thirteenth place. Biography Joella was raised in Corona, California. Career Joella is a drag performer also known as Joella Perry. The first drag performance she saw was Frank Marino's celebrity impersonation show in Las Vegas, Nevada. She decided to start performing after being shown clips of Alyssa Edwards, Tatianna, and Sasha Velour competing on ''Drag Race'' by her friend. She began performing at 340 Nightclub in Pomona where she met her "drag mother", Reina. In 2021, she performed alongside Katy Perry for the opening night of her Play concert residency at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas. Joella Hardeman Gipson-Simpson (January 8, 1929 – January 31, 2012) was an American musician, mathematician, and educator who became the first African American student at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. Early life and music education Joella Hardeman was born in Los Angeles on January 8, 1929, and began studying music at age eight. After graduating from Saint Agnes High School, a Catholic school in Los Angeles that operated from 1919 to 1953, she entered Mount St. Mary's College, becoming the first African American student accepted there. She majored in music performance and minored in English and philosophy, graduating in 1950, and won a graduate scholarship to the State University of Iowa, where she earned a master's degree in music education in 1951. Joella Lloyd (born 12 April 2002) is an athlete from Antigua and Barbuda who holds the national record in both the 100 metres and 200 metres sprint events. From St. John's where she attended Antigua Girls’ High School before going to study at the University of Tennessee. Lloyd produced a personal best of 23.39 in the 200 metres at the SEC Championships, placing 9th overall in February 2021. On 27 February 2021, Lloyd won the indoor 60 metres conference title at the SEC Championships, tying the all-time program record with a time of 7.15 seconds and recording the No. 1 mark in the world by any female athlete under 20 years old. Lloyd finished sixth at her NCAA indoor nationals debut on 13 March 2021, posting a time of 7.23 in the 60 metres. Joella Gerstmeyer Yoder (born 1944) is a historian of science. She is an expert in the work of Christiaan Huygens. Life Yoder gained her Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of Wisconsin. In 1986 she embarked on the project of cataloguing the manuscripts and letters of Huygens, many of them collected at the University of Leiden. It would take her over a quarter of a century to complete this cataloguing project.
