Joel M. Weingarten (born October 6, 1959) is an American Republican Party (United States), Republican Party politician who served three terms in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he represented the New Jersey's 21st legislative district, 21st Legislative District from 1996 to 2002. Education and professional career Weingarten earned his undergraduate degree from St. John's College (Annapolis/Santa Fe), St. John's College, where he majored in liberal arts and was awarded an M.S. from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie-Mellon University, where he majored in business. New Jersey's 21st legislative district is one of 40 in the New Jersey Legislature. The district includes the Morris County communities of Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, and Long Hill Township; the Somerset County municipalities of Bernardsville, Bernards Township, Green Brook, Far Hills, Peapack and Gladstone, Warren Township and Watchung; the Union County municipalities of Berkeley Heights, Garwood, Mountainside, New Providence, Springfield Township, Summit and Westfield; and the Middlesex County municipalities of Dunellen and Middlesex. John Collins (born June 25, 1943) is an American educator, lawyer, former college basketball coach, and a Republican Party politician from New Jersey. He was Speaker of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1996 until 2002. Biography Collins was born in Atlantic City and moved to Gloucester City at a young age. He attended Gloucester Catholic High School, where he excelled at basketball. He went on to Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), receiving a B.A. degree in science education in 1964 and a master's degree in student personnel services in 1967. Eric Munoz (October 14, 1947 – March 30, 2009) was an American Republican Party politician, who served in the New Jersey General Assembly from May 2001, where he represented the 21st legislative district, until his death on March 30, 2009. Munoz had served as the Deputy Conference Leader since 2006. Early life Munoz was born on October 14, 1947, in the Bronx, New York. His father, William Munoz, was a manager of a Freehold Borough waste water treatment plant and a general store in Colts Neck Township. He grew up in Colts Neck first attending Atlantic Elementary School there and the Peddie School in Hightstown. Megan's Law
Megan's Law is the name for a federal law (and informal name for similar state laws) in the United States requiring law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders. Laws were created in response to the murder of Megan Kanka, who was raped and murdered by her neighbour, Jesse Timmendequas, who was a previously-convicted child sex offender. Federal Megan's Law was enacted as a subsection of the Jacob Wetterling Crimes Against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act of 1994, which merely required sex offenders to register with local law enforcement. Because only a few states required registration prior to Megan's death, the state-level legislation to bring states in compliance—with both the ''registration'' requirement of Jacob Wetterling Act and ''community notification'' required by federal Megan's Law—were crafted simultaneously and are often referred to as "Megan's Laws" of individual states.
