Joe Urso (baseball Coach)
Joseph David Urso (born March 1, 1979) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback. He played professional arena football/ indoor football in three leagues, as well as brief stints in the National Football League (NFL) with the New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks after coming out of college as an undrafted free agent. He played college football at Lycoming College, and then transferred to Wilkes University. High school years Urso attended Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland. He was the starting quarterback on the varsity team from his sophomore season on. Urso lettered 3 years in football, and also excelled in other sports, lettering 3 years in basketball, and 1 season of baseball. The National Letter of Intent (NLI) is a document used to indicate a student athlete's commitment to participating in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) colleges and universities in the United States. The NCAA Eligibility Center manages the daily operations of the NLI program while the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) provides governance oversight of the program. Started in 1964 with seven conferences and eight independent institutions, the program included 676 Division I and II participating institutions through the 2023–24 school year. The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) is the Voluntary association, association that oversees public high school sporting contests in the state of Maryland. Formed in 1946, the MPSSAA is made up of public high schools from each of Maryland's 23 counties and independent city of Baltimore, which joined the association in 1993 when its public high schools withdrew from the earlier longtime athletic league, the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association, Maryland Scholastic Association (MSA) which was founded in 1919. Linganore High School is an American high school in Frederick County, Maryland. It serves the eastern portion of Frederick County. The school's mascot is the Lancer and its colors are red and black. History Linganore High School Junior-Senior High School opened in 1962 and was built to serve the eastern section of Frederick County, including New Market, Libertytown, Mount Pleasant, Kemptown, Johnsville, Monrovia and Bartonsville.
