Joe Stevens
Joe Stevens (born Joseph Grady July 25, 1938, in New York City) is an American photographer. He is known for his photos of musicians and bands such as David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, and The Clash. His images were part of the major rock photography exhibit at The Annenberg Space for Photography in 2012 and continue to appear in the British magazine '' UNCUT'' and The New York Times. In the 1960s, he managed the Playhouse, a Greenwich Village coffeehouse. He began taking photos of musicians at the Playhouse. He was encouraged by photographer Jim Marshall. Stevens does not have formal training in photography, but worked in the music business as road manager for Miriam Makeba and The Lovin' Spoonful. Encountering Jim Marshall again at Woodstock, Stevens decided he "had an eye" for photography and would make it his career. ''Country Music'' is a documentary miniseries created and directed by Ken Burns and written by Dayton Duncan that premiered on PBS on September 15, 2019. The eight-part series chronicles the history and prominence of country music in American culture. Production Burns announced the miniseries in January 2014, with a projected airdate in 2018. Burns cited his ongoing work on other documentary projects as having affected progress on the series. Writer Dayton Duncan explained that the goal of the series was to demonstrate that country music "isn't and never was just one type of music. Luther Monroe Perkins, Jr. (January 8, 1928 – August 5, 1968) was an American country music guitarist and a member of the Tennessee Three, the backup band for singer Johnny Cash. Perkins was an iconic figure in what would become known as rockabilly music. Leslie Frank Hinton (born 19 February 1944) is a British-American journalist, writer and business executive whose career with Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation spanned more than fifty years.
