Joe Edwards (comics)
Joe Edwards (December 6, 1921 – February 8, 2007) was an American comic book artist best known for creating Archie Comics' mischievous little-girl character Li'l Jinx while working in the industry for over 65 years. Biography Born in the New York City borough of Manhattan, Edwards studied at art Rome Academy and the Hastings Animation School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where his duties including illustrating training manuals and, while based in Italy, cartoon warning signs of minefields around Naples. Edwards began his comics career with Demby Studios, one of the early "packages" who would provide outsourced comics on demand for publishers testing out the new medium of comic books in the late 1930s and 1940s. He later worked for Dell Comics and Timely Comics, the 1940s forerunner of Marvel Comics. Li'l Jinx, created by Joe Edwards, is a fictional character in an American comic book series published by Archie Comics since the late 1940s. ''Little Archie'' is a comic book published by Archie Comics from 1956 to 1983, lasting 180 issues. ''Little Archie'' #1 is considered to be "scarce" by the '' Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide'' (only 20-100 copies exist). ''Archie's Mad House'' (sometimes rendered as ''Archie's Madhouse'') was a comic book magazine published by Archie Comics from 1959 to 1982. The series went through a number of overhauls and name changes. Classic stories have occasionally appeared in digest magazines. History The first 18 issues featured the "Archie gang" in stories that were a bit more "off the wall" than the normal Archie series. The idea was to produce stories that made no sense. The title ''Mad House'' was written as two words instead of one to suggest a false connection to '' MAD Magazine'' and recapture its success. Super Duck
Super Duck was a comic book character created in 1943 for what was then MLJ Comics (now Archie Comics) by staff artist Al Fagaly. As his name implies, Super Duck (nicknamed "Supe") was originally a parody of Superman, even down to a red and blue costume. But his time as a superhero was short, and by late 1944 his stories became more conventional, in the Disney/Carl Barks mode. ''Super Duck Comics'' ran from 1944 to 1960, featuring "Super Duck, the Cockeyed Wonder" in his most familiar attire: a black shirt, red lederhosen and often an Alpine hat. Regular contributors to ''Super Duck Comics'' included creator Al Fagaly, as well as Red Holmdale. Fagaly illustrated most covers up through the early 1950s. Riverdale is a fictional town in the United States where most of the characters live and appear in Archie Comics. Conflicting details on its geographic location have been given over the years. It is located near the fictional town of Greendale, home of '' Sabrina the Teenage Witch'' comic book series. In the television series '' Riverdale'', it is located near Greendale related to the television series '' Chilling Adventures of Sabrina''.
