Joe Caven
John Brown "Joe" Caven (11 October 1936 – 13 August 2023) was a Scottish footballer, best known for playing with Greenock Morton and Airdrieonians in the Scottish Football League. He was a centre forward. Born in Kirkintilloch, Caven also played for Airdrie, Brighton & Hove Albion, Raith Rovers, Greenock Morton, and Stirling Albion, with a short time in South Africa playing for Addington and Germiston Callies. Having been given a free transfer by Raith Rovers at the end of the 1962–63 season, in July 1963, Caven signed for Inverness Caledonian, a Highland Football League club at that time, on the basis that if a Scottish League club came along for him he would be released from his contract by Inverness Caledonian. Within weeks after signing for Inverness Caledonian, Greenock Morton signed Caven and therefore he never appeared for Inverness Caledonian in the Highland Football League. Kirkintilloch
Kirkintilloch (; ; ) is a town and a Burgh of Barony (The Baron of Kirkintilloch) in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It lies on the Forth and Clyde Canal and on the south side of Strathkelvin, about northeast of central Glasgow. Historically part of Dunbartonshire, the town is the administrative home of East Dunbartonshire council area, its population in 2009 was estimated at 19,700 and its population in 2011 was 19,689. Toponymy "Kirkintilloch" comes from the Gaelic ''Cair Cheann Tulaich'' or ''Cathair Cheann Tulaich'', meaning "fort at the end of the hill". This, in turn, may come from a Cumbric name, ''Caer-pen-taloch'', which has the same meaning. A possible reference to the site is made in the 9th century Welsh text Historia Brittonum, in which the Antonine Wall is said to end at 'Caerpentaloch'. Nairn (; ) is a town and former royal burgh in the Highland (council area), Highland Council council areas of Scotland, area of Scotland. Inverness (; ; from the , meaning "Mouth of the River Ness") is a city in the Scottish Highlands, having been granted city status in 2000.
