Joe Awada
Joe Awada (born Yehia Awada; ar, يحيى عواضة ; born March 12, 1959 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a professional poker player, based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Awada moved from Lebanon to the United States in his early teenage years, working as a juggler, eventually touring with the Harlem Globetrotters. After a car accident, he began working as a casino dealer and eventually became a regular on the poker tournament circuit. At the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Awada finished second to Scott Fischman in the $1,500 no limit hold'em event. Awada would have won the gold bracelet in that tournament were it not for a bad beat on the river that kept Fischman alive—Fischman won the tournament on the very next hand. Later in the same WSOP, Awada won a gold bracelet in the $5,000 seven-card stud event, defeating Marcel Lüske. The 2006 World Series of Poker (WSOP) began on June 25, 2006 with satellite events, with regular play commencing on June 26 with the annual Casino Employee event, and the Tournament of Champions held on June 28 and 29. 40 more events in various disciplines including Omaha, seven-card stud and razz, plus ladies' and senior tournaments led up to the 10,000 US$ no-limit Texas hold 'em main event starting July 28 and running through the final table on August 10. The Ultimate Poker Challenge (UPC) was a series of weekly poker tournaments acting as super-satellites into the series semi-finals. The first and second seasons are available on NTSC DVD. In the United States, it was a syndicated program. Format Players are entitled to enter multiple super-satellite tournaments (entry into the semi-finals is transferable.) Jan Johnsen Sørensen (14 May 1955 – 16 February 2024) was a Danish professional footballer who played as a striker. He most notably played professionally for Belgian club Club Brugge as well as FC Twente, Feyenoord and Ajax in the Netherlands. He played 11 matches and scored three goals for the Denmark national team from 1977 to 1980. Career Sørensen started his career with Glostrup IC before joining BK Frem in Denmark ahead of the 1977 season.
