Jody Thomas
Jody Thomas is a Canadian public servant who was the national security advisor to the prime minister of Canada since 2022. Thomas has held a number of roles in the Public Service of Canada. Education Thomas holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University. Career She has previously served as deputy minister for the Department of National Defence, commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard, and chief operating officer for Passport Canada, and served as an officer in the Naval Reserve. Thomas has been described as a realist on global issues, and "hawkish" towards China. Passport Canada
Passport Canada (known as the Passport Office prior to June 2006) was an independent, special operating agency of the Government of Canada with bureaucratic oversight provided through Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. Passport Canada was responsible for issuing, revoking, withholding, and recovering Canadian passports, and it was the sole issuer of them (except for emergency and temporary passports that may be issued by a Canadian mission abroad). Deputy ministers take political direction from a minister of the Crown, who is typically an elected member of Parliament and responsible for the department.
