Jock Austin
Herbert George "Jock" Austin (16 March 1938 − 3 May 1990) was an Indigenous Australian community leader. He was a Gunditjmara man who served as the coach and president of the Fitzroy Stars Football Club in its early years. His son, Troy Austin, is also a former Fitzroy Stars president and currently serves as a member of the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria after being elected in 2023 Victorian First Peoples' Assembly election, 2023. Biography Austin was born in 1938 under a gumtree at Framlingham, Victoria, Framlingham Aboriginal Reserve as the son of Ella Clark and Cyril Austin. He had 11 siblings. He moved to the inner-Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy, Victoria, Fitzroy in the 1950s where met Patricia Prior, whom he raised two children with. Framlingham, Victoria
Framlingham is a rural township located by the Hopkins River in the Western District, Victoria, Western District of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, about north-east of the coastal city of Warrnambool, Victoria, Warrnambool. In the 2016 Australian census, 2016 census, the township had a population of 158. The town lies within the traditional lands of the Girai wurrung (Kirrae Wuurong) people. In the decades following European settlement in the 1840s, a general store, post office, hotel, school and Presbyterian church were established in Framlingham, as increasing numbers of graziers and dairy farmers settled the area. The Framlingham Aboriginal Reserve was established by the Board for the Protection of Aborigines between Purnim, Victoria, Purnim and the township of Framlingham in 1861, upon the request of an Anglican Church of Australia, Anglican mission. Boxing
Boxing is a combat sport and martial art.
