Jochem Douma
Jochem Douma (23 November 1931 – 7 November 2020) was a Dutch theologian and ethicist. He was ordained in the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, having studied at its Theological College in Kampen and at the University of Amsterdam The University of Amsterdam (abbreviated as UvA, nl, Universiteit van Amsterdam) is a public research university located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The UvA is one of two large, publicly funded research universities in the city, the other bein .... He served as a pastor before being appointed as Professor of Ethics at Kampen in 1970, where he served until his retirement in 1997. Douma wrote a fifteen-volume series called ''Ethical Reflections'', as well as a series of biblical commentaries. In 2014 Douma left the Liberated churches to join the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Restored). ''Nederlands Dagblad'' (; "Dutch Daily") is a Dutch daily newspaper, available nationwide, with a daily circulation of 23,800 issues (in 2020). History The paper was founded in 1944 as a semi-resistance paper during World War II called ''Reformatie Stemmen'' (Reformatory Voices). After the war it was renamed ''De Vrije Kerk'' (The Free Church) and later ''Gereformeerd gezinsblad'' (Reformed Family Paper). In 1959 it became a daily newspaper. The paper obtained its current name in 1967. For many years it had a strong binding with the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) and the Gereformeerd Politiek Verbond, a former Dutch christian political party. Theological University of the Reformed Churches ( nl, Theologische Universiteit Kampen van de Gereformeerde Kerken) is an academic theological seminary in the Dutch city of Kampen. It was founded on 6 December 1854 in Kampen. The university primarily caters to ministerial education. In order to be an ordained minister in the Reformed Churches a six-year training including a Bachelor of Theology (BA) and Master of Divinity (MA) are required. Next to these programs the seminary offers one-year master programmes (MA) in several disciplines. Most MA-programmes can be taken in English. The Reformed Churches (Restored) ( nl, Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland (hersteld)), also known as the New Reformed Churches ( nl, Nieuwe Vrijgemaakte Kerken) constitute a Christian denomination in the Netherlands. It separated from the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) in 2003. Officially named the "Reformed Churches in the Netherlands", they are usually called the "Reformed Churches (Restored)" to avoid confusion with the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated) and the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (GKN).
